MAGIC!!

Ever touched a flower and felt the velvet magic against your skin ? Ever heard a bird chirping in the distance and wonder what you could have done to deserve a piece of its happiness ? I have. And I've learnt something from it. Nothing can beat experience when it comes to getting to know the world around you. For years Ive tried to capture this magic in pictures, photographs, art, between the pages of a book , but I've failed miserably. No matter how powerful or high tech a camera or how great an artistic talent you may have, the magic of nature will always remain just that, MAGIC. This world was made for us to experience, not to browse a pixelated view of. Paint and pastels have their own magic to give but can never replace the sound of the wind rustling throught the trees or the splash of a wave at your feet. The coolness of the moonlight against your skin as you sit outside waiting for what life will bring your way next cannot be measured , studied and recorded on astronomical graphs .

Most of us consider ourselves to be fortunate enough to be in command of all our 5 (for some 6) senses but to encounter the world through the life of someone "less fortunate" would be an entrirely different kind of Magic. Something unknown floating down on a breeze and caressing ur face as it floats along lifes path, without you even knowing what it is , is still magic i believe. To hear a thunder cloud rolling in on the day and proclaiming its might is better appreciated maybe , if we cant see it.

Even mans own marvels of architecture, art and science cannot be encapsulated in a diagram, photograph or painting. To touch the frame of a Baroque window , basking in the sunlit afternoon, to run your hand along the smooth steel of a modern structural frame, would just taking a snapshot be doing justice to the effort, love and soul that went into its creation?

So put your cameras away once in a while and experience reality. Turn off the TV, your not going to experience the world through a sheet of glass and a mass of plasma. People say theres no such thing as magic, I say thats because you havent walked out into the world to feel its enormous power.

(the danube floweth gently past mine feet as I turn my feelings into these powerless words)
